I am turning thirty in less than four months.

All my friends who are over thirty tell me that the thirties are (or were, as the case may be) much better than the twenties.

I am full of hope that this is true. I mean, they could hardly be worse, could they?

Could they?

Though my thirties are not even halfway over, I can say that the first three years of them (which are coming to a close in a few short weeks) have been much better than all the years of my twenties combined. Have faith.

I hope my 20s are better than my teens. Maybe life is like fine wine in that it gets better with age 🙂

Turning 30 is traumatic. The weeks/days leading up to the birthday are filled with angst-burdened periods of tormented self-loathing and despair.

From there, it’s all downhill. Or uphill. Whichever you prefer.
