I understand that, for the young, Facebook has virtually innumerable appealing qualities.

However, for people of a certain age, the best things about Facebook, as far as I can tell, are that you find out

1) all the people you wanted to sleep with in high school but couldn’t dream of doing so because they were straight are now gay; and

2) All the people you were jealous of and wanted so badly to be that it made you bleed are now fat and real estate agents.

Too true, too true. What’s funny is I only made a Facebook page when Swish was coming out because I wanted to read the secret blog!

I liken it to all the fun of a high school reunion without having to lose five pounds or buy a dress!

I love the fact that people who refused to speak to me in school are apparently now excited to be my “friend” and remember the gool old days. It makes me laugh. Then it makes me pity them, because their lives must be pretty empty. Then I throw in some self-loathing, because I always approve their friend request. Then I wish I hadn’t, because they invariably start sending me applications to add… and I hate that almost as much as I hated them in school.

There is even more of an added bonus in the latter category now that the housing market is in the state it is in.

I just enjoy using the word “friend” as a verb.

Yep and all those “beautiful people” back in high school have now been attacked by balding, gray hair, double chins, expanding waistlines, showing that gravity has slowly become their enemy, etc.

Observation #1 is definitely not applicable in my case, unfortunately. Well, they *might* be gay, but most of them are still Mormon!

How very very true on both counts, Faustus.

    1)Chris Drysdale – sob!

    2) Chris Drysdale – Ha ha ha!

Which proves, I suppose, that there is, sort of, a God, or that there is a God but only half of the time

It has been rather silent on the high school front for me. I’ve only been contacted by two folks, both female. Oh, and one guy that I was sure was gay (and had no interest in) but just goes on and on about his newborn baby girl on facebook. So your reasoning does not hold up for me.

    I just like poking people.

I started using FB for work reasons (I work at a University) and have been really surprised at how many folks from my high school days are on it and are clearly uncomfortable with technology. I think that many of them joined to spy on their kids.
