Of course, the thread of that inspiration may be more evident in some cases than in others…

Have we never discussed the fact that I’ve been sort of obsessed with that since the first time I saw it on the Muppet Show as a kid? And did you know that Harry Belafonte sang it at Jim Henson’s funeral?

Oh, goodness. I cannot thank you enough! I’m an elementary school music teacher in Texas, and this is one of the songs I have my 3rd and 4th graders sing! I had no idea Belafonte did that on the Muppet Show! Now I need to go rifle through my DVDs to see if I have that episode. What an inspiration!

Is anyone else smiling at the thought that this might have been Lisa F’s first encounter with Faustus’s blog, and that this is her understanding of it? Inspired by Muppets and the spirit of “kumbaya”. How very wholesome.

    Love. It.

(Apologies to Lisa F. if you’re a frequent visitor, and I’ve just missed your previous comments!)

I must go back to your Haiku book and re-read it now in its proper spirit. For some reason it didn’t quite shine through the first time.

I totally see the connection between this wonderful video and the blog. They’re both about discovering one’s place in the world through relating with other people. And both have inspired many of us to do the same.

Hee! Okay, I am snickering now. Yes, I am a daily reader, but a very quiet one. I find Faustus’ journal utterly delightful, informative, and a fount of great snark. No apologies necessary though, Kenny! I’d think the same of some random schoolteacher!

Your profession only caught my attention because I’m currently at an ACDA convention representing the music publishing company for which I work. I too was a Music Ed. major. 🙂

Yes, Fozzie Bear does inspire me too. But what about him specifically inspires your work, Faustus?

That brought back great memories. Did he do the banana song on the same episode or was he a guest that appeared more than once?

For reasons that I shouldn’t and won’t go into here, I’d had Donna Summers’ “Bad Girls” stuck in my head for the last week. Now I have Harry Belafonte stuck in my head, and, wow, what an improvement. Thank you.
