Does anybody in the New York area with a T-Mobile, Sprint, or Working Assets mobile phone care to weigh in on the quality of the service s/he gets? I’ve been happy with Verizon’s service but I simply cannot continue to patronize a company that would sell my phone records to the government. I’m switching my home service from AT&T to Vonage, but, for cellular service, before I make a two-year commitment and buy a gajillion-dollar phone I want to make sure I can trust the guy who wanders around the countryside on TV saying, “Can you hear me now?”.

In unrelated news, does anybody who is internet-savvy want a gig that will take a few hours and pay $25/hour? If so, please email me and I’ll give you more details.

In even more unrelated news, I was going to write a post wondering how I could possibly have managed to gain 3.6 pounds yesterday, but then I realized that obviously it’s because God was angry at me for importuning him.

At first I worried that Karl Rove and Verizon had conspired to fill my morning protein bar with sugar and lard, but then I remembered that it tasted just as repulsive as it usually does, so I think it really has to be the God thing.

Are you sure you didn’t weigh yourself without product on Monday and with product on Tuesday?

  3. T-Mobile has good coverage in the city and abroad. Their service is decent, I’ve been with them for 4 years now.

Verizon is plain annoying and their phones are nasty.

Overpriced government cooperators though they may be, I can’t recommend moving from Verizon. I’m often the only guy in a room with cell service, especially in old theaters or outside of the city. At my summer gig, T-Mobile phones don’t work at all for miles and miles. I guess I’d say go with Sprint if you’re going to go with anyone else.

It wasn’t me. Now I’m not the kind of G-d who points fingers, but I seem to recall Karl Rove and Dick Cheney writing SOMETHING about you in their notes yesterday. But I thought they were going to get the Guiliani goons to put an end to your dancing career.

And please — lard? Me? I’m the one who keeps telling you not to eat pork. When are you ever going to listen to me?

And may I say, I saw you in the shower this morning, and your abs and ass are every bit as beautiful as they ever were. If you gained 3 pounds, it was muscle. (One suggestion… You might try a using Clidamycin 1% gel on those blemishes on your tuchas…it’ll clear them right up.)

    Love,

    G-d

Sprint service is atrocious in NYC, especially after midnight, when they turn off some towers to save money.

T-Mobile is owned by Deutsche Telekom; not sure if that matters to you (“buy American” and such).

this will probably just make you more angry, but… (1) all the media reports have been about land line call records. it’s not clear what cellular service providers handed over records to the nsa. that shoe hasn’t dropped yet, so you probably shouldn’t bother changing your service until you know what you can change it to. if you’re dedicated to the idea. and (2) why would you say call records were sold when they were freely given? probably with a wink and a smile.

Will you stop weighing yourself? I weigh myself maybe once every two months.

If you hate the protein bars, try Muscle Milk. It’s actually palatable. At least I think so. Lots of dandy flavors, too.

Oh, I have no advice on cellular service. I use Cingular. I don’t even know who owns them.

3.6 pounds in a day? It sounds more like you just changed the batteries of your scale so that it shows your weight differently now.
You would be the first I have heard of to report doubling his weight in a single day.

Is that you Mr. Faustus, sir? (whimper) I guess even G-d let you off the hook. Now there’s nobody who can help us. (sniff) If only we’d gotten some donations 11 or 23 years ago. All we needed was about $276.00. That would have made all the difference in the world. It’s probably too late now. (sigh)

You knew you were going to get millions of conflicting responses I’m sure.

I have had Sprint service for over four years and it has been faultless. Same phone same number never a problem. A huge consideration for me was their “international” plan, which I think has the best rates and service around.

I agree with me (both 7) and 8)). You should probably just wait and see whether more, and/or more alarming information come to light before making such a decision. And also, Vonage sucks.

This is why I don’t read the news, it only leads to misery and shame. I had Sprint for years and ha-ted it. I’ve never had a problem with Verizon. Besides, what do you care if they share your phone records? You maintain a publicly accessible weblog baring the most intimate crevices of your life, it could only increase your viewership. In fact, I’m going to get on the horn right now and say something unpatriotic.

I remember a few years ago when I was practically living in Manhattan (oh Hell, I *was* living in Manhattan when I wasn’t in DC), I was a huge fan of my T-Mobile service. From what I’ve heard, they’ve only become better. Consider getting a phone/contract from them over Amazon or something; I got a $300 phone at the time for free.

Don’t get Sprint or Verizon. They both use proprietary network technology, which means that you cannot use their phones abroad. The rest of the world uses GSM like T-Mobile or Cingular. An added bonus would be the cool phones from around the world that work with C & T’s service. That being said, Cingular BLOWS. They have such awful signal strength and customer service. T-Mobile is limited in selection and some coverage, but their signals are clear and generally in every place you would ever need them (particularly if you do your world tour).

GSM is used around the world, sure, but the bandwidths it runs on in the US are different from those in Europe. To use a GSM phone in the US and beyond make sure to get a dual-band or tri-band phone. If that’s even a concern; it’s not for everybody.

    Thank you for the link!

I don’t care what the NSA says. The fact that you are taking my phone records without my consent AND without a warrant because you have proof that ‘I’ am a terrorist, then you are invading my privacy.

I hate what happened to our country in 2001 and I lost a lot of friends then and in the war but that doesn’t make me agree with what they’re doing.

Is he making stupid decisions because he REALLY believes that this will help America?

    Or,

are these the acts of a delusional psychopath who thinks he is some kind of prophet, or messenger from God; because he claimed that the voice of God told him to invade Iraq?

Everyone who made it possible for him to be our president should be shot on site.
