Sometimes I think that getting to live the life of a vagabond artist, making my way by my wits and leaving so much to fate and everything else to luck and also having to pay for my own health insurance, is the most wonderful thing in the world.
And then sometimes it just so totally sucks.
Amen brother.
ooh, maybe it wouldn’t seem wonderful if it didn’t suck once in a while?
I know your pain. Life is full of heartache.
In fact, imagine my anguish when I just realized that I’m not in your list of blogs. 🙁 If necessary, I can take you out and bribe you with drinks. 😉
Would you prefer to be an insensate wage-slave twitching at the end of a greasy string held by the Man? Coverage for 100% of Medicare Part A eligible hospital expenses included?
NYC’s Domestic Partnership Law could, potentially, cover you for health care insurance on your boyfriend’s policy. I believe Columbia and NYU offer their hospital employees’ domestic partners health coverage.
It’s still most often wonderful.
And it could always somehow be worse. Hang in there.
Two words–team-building meetings. (Maybe that’s two-and-a-half words, actually.)
Remember that the scholar-gypsy life may bite the big wang at times, but it’s better by far than the howling Sheol of corporate zombiedom.
darling, you went to harvard.
artist? absolutely.
vagabond? doubtfully.
The corporate life I live now affords me all the stuff I wanted when i was self-employed… and all it cost me was the most valuable thing I had… my freedom.
Enjoy it! (Even the sucky parts)
This is an off-topic comment, but I felt an e-mail would be too intimate. Faustus, I just want to tell you that I’ve spent every evening for the past two weeks reading this blog from start to finish in chronological order. Thank you very much for the exquisite entertainment; I’ll be coming back religiously for more.
Hrm.
It occurs to me to beg forgiveness for the unintentional irony of leaving these thanks as a comment instead of a personal e-mail, especially given that I’m thanking you in part for describing your attendance at orgies and the filming of a (no doubt arousing) pornographic film.
I think you’re rubbing off ….
