I just got back from the gym, where I taught a Step ‘n’ Sculpt class.

Because I was dawdling at home beforehand, I ran out the door without checking to make sure I had everything I needed with me.

As a result, I ended up having to teach the class in a t-shirt, shorts, sneakers–and black socks.

This may very well be my last post ever, as I am about to die of shame.

it’s never so bad that it couldn’t somehow be worse. [unless you also forgot hair gel, in which case that comment would be fairly difficult to exemplify.]

Wow. Aside from the socks faux pas, I’m just impressed at your versatility. I know about step classes, but you can sculpt at the same time?

We have many sculptures that my grandmother made, but I know it took her a lot of work, and she certainly couldn’t be exercising and chiseling stone at the same time. Just the thought of it, even for someone as young and fit as you, is amazing!

  3. I would have either gone sockless or barefoot.
Maybe you ought to consider buying an emergency pair of black sneakers. I mean, if you will own black socks…

My idol has feet of clay! Or at least feet clad in black socks.

Seriously, there are some things that nobody needs to know. I will forever after have a mental image of you as a sixty year old, gone to seed, Jack Lalanne never was giving aerobics lessons to the senior ladies class on a cheap cruise line.

I’m impressed that fashion-handicapped me was able to notice that combination is a problem. Course that just means I would have gone naked instead. đŸ˜›

I’m sorry, I can’t disagree with you. Suicide may be your only option.

Next time (though I’m sure there won’t be one) confront such a situation with a mindset of “Distract, disorient, confuse”.

On the other hand, perhaps you have started a new trend and you just don’t know it yet.

Black socks can be nerdy and cool at the same time. I’m sure it wasn’t that bad.

I have taught in black socks, and I’ve known teachers who are incredibly sexy in them.

It only really works if the rest of the outfit is also black, though.

You know, you could have not worn socks at all? Yeah, there may have been the danger that your feet could have made your sneakers stink forever, no matter how many times you put them through the washer, resulting in you eventually having to burn them. But you would have been spared the shame.

I think you may need to go into the Witness Protection Program.

I don’t know…have you ever looked through a fashion magazine? Really hot guys can look amazing in outfits that would look hilariously ridiculous on an average person like me. I’m sure you were cutting edge, baby.

I’m imaginging all those ladies in the club sitting around saying, “God, how could I have missed it? BLACK socks are in, not white. I mean, Faustus is gay and obviously he knows about this trend. I feel so outre.”

Next week they will all show up with shiny new white sneakers and black socks, and you will be wearing white ones. Those poor society girls will not know what to think.

Oh my god, you teach at a gym on WEA, only five blocks from my apartment. I didn’t join that gym because I thought it looked like they would have plastic slipcovers on the weight benches, but now I should probably reconsider …

And for any so-called record, I wear black socks. I wear them with my black Asics Gel 2090s (soon to be 2100s, just ordered from the fabulous Zappos.com!), and I think it looks darling.
