I was going to post about how well the reading went, but I am so filled with joy at having found my knitting (which I’d left at NYU and which no one could find and so which I assumed had inexplicably been stolen) that I’m finding it difficult to concentrate on the Holocaust.

The one thing I’ll say is that I was doing totally fine until I looked over and saw my father in tears, at which point I melted, thawed, and resolved myself into a dew.

Luckily, I seem to have resolidified enough by now to knit and purl. I should have a sweater finished just in time for winter.

    Faustus,

I’m a friend of Jenn Still, who alerted me to your blog, which is delightfully amusing and well written, in my humble view, but since I’m not a talent scout for Farrar Strauss Giroux, who cares. But of course, and I’m sure you saw this coming, I’m opening with a compliment, albeit sincere, in order to ask a favor. I teach a non-fiction writing course at the New School on Tuesday nights (8-9:50 p.m.), and I wondered if I could coax, tempt, incite you to visit–jury’s still out on whether or not I can offer you an honorarium, which would no doubt be humble, maybe slightly bigger than your dry cleaning bill, but maybe there’s some way doing a writer guest visit enhances your reputation? The students are curious about blogs and how blogs offer a writer an audience, among other questions. Any Tuesday before Thanksgiving would be fine, but the sooner the better. Jenn told me you teach at NYU, so I’m sure you can fill in the picture. And if you need anyone to visit your class to talk, say, about semicolons or how to prevent fragments and run-ons, I’d be happy to reciprocate. Or, maybe it would be more powerful to promise that if you visit my class, I will never ever visit yours?

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Margaret

I’ll speak for him since he’s so easily distracted by yarn —

The reading was phenomenally good. This man is a genius, his music is gorgeous, and I’m looking forward to riding his coattails all the way to the top when he’s a gigantic star of the American musical theater.

  3. Margaret, I would be delighted to visit your class, though the fact that you think I can afford to have my clothes dry cleaned makes me slightly nervous. Adam807, to heap praise on me like that when you know you’re not going to sleep with me is simply too cruel for words.

wow…. You know how to knit….

I wish I have the patient for that.. ๐Ÿ™ I have tried it, but got so confused and frustrated with it… that I ended up giving it to my mom. And ask her to make me a scarf. ๐Ÿ˜›

Cool, is the sweater for yourself? or for….

Are the rest of us going to be able to see your musical soon? Or am I going to have to fly to London to see the other one?

And here I thought the praise was a nice consolation prize…
