Actually, the timing of my birthday on the one hand and yearbook deadlines on the other makes me realize that the dichotomy was fixed by seventeen.

Probably it was fixed by five.

    No, really. Because I just opened a fortune cookie half an hour ago, and I’m looking at the fortune, and that’s what it says. Which means the other one must have been yours.

    Probably it was fixed by the time maladapted fish crawled out of the ocean to flap, gasping and bewildered, on the shore for a few seconds before rushing back to the safety of the water.

    And Wayne, I meant my birthday my senior year of high school. My actual birthday is in January. Or at least that’s when we celebrate it in your earth months.
